If y = 1/x√x , find dy/dx . 

Solution: 

Represent y in the form of a power. ( i.e., ) y = x^−3/2 . 

Then dy/dx = ( −3/2 )x^{( −3/2 − 1 )}

= −3x^−5/2 /2 .
