1.) What is the perimeter of the given figure, where adjacent sides are at right angles to each other? 

(a) 20 cm (b) 18 cm (c) 21 cm (d) cannot be determined 

Ans. : (a) 20 cm .

Solution:

AB = 4 cm

CD = 1 cm

AH = 5 cm

AB + CD = 5 cm

BC + DE + FG = 5 cm

EF + GH = 5 cm

The total perimeter of the diagram = AH + ( AB + CD ) + ( BC + DE + FG ) + ( EF + GH ) 

= 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20 cm .

The total perimeter of the diagram is 20 cm .
